Swimming with Water Babies #NBSW

Water babies swimming lessons (find your local pool here)

Whether it's because we had a water birth or it's just part of her, Esmé absolutely loves the water. Even at this early stage I wanted to embrace this love of hers and take her swimming so we could both learn some valuable lessons whilst both having fun. Swimming at this age wasn't much of a thought when I had Aiden, we took him to the local swimming pool once or twice but he got cold far to fast and there's only so long you can sit still holding your baby. Until I was contacted by Water babies I had no idea that children so young could be taught swimming techniques, which is incredibly important and could save their life.

Beautiful skin from within - Regime London deluxe collagen

Regime London deluxe collagen capsules - £21.99* (shop here)

To achieve beautiful, flawless and age proof skin is the desire of pretty much every human on this planet, the yearning for perfect skin. Ageing is inevitable so wrinkles and not as taught skin is going to happen its a sad reality. However with so many things on the market now it doesn't have to happen so fast and we'll be damned to just stand by and let mother nature take its course.

Skin is incredibly complex, trust me after doing a beauty therapy course and having to learn the anatomy of it i should know. Yes anti ageing creams, serums and moisturising are essential to having good skin but these things only penetrate the skin so far so having a supplement that can get to the deeper levels of the skin and where skin cells are produced is a huge benefit and this is exactly where these supplements come in to play.

Don't overlook this Holland & Barrett shop

I can't lie Holland & Barrett isn't a shop i often went in or was overly excited by, the shops we had was rather small and as far as i was aware just stocked vitamin supplements. That was until i was invited to the opening of the new Holland & Barrett shop in Drakes circus mall in Plymouth and i am not over-exagerating when i say i was completely blown away. As soon as you walk in the shop is modern and fresh and so large it took me a second to absorb it and decide what area i wanted to look at first. The shop is broke down into three main sections, beauty & home, sport & nutrition and food & drink each section even has it's own interactive style shopping experience.

Stressless baby feeding - Tommee Tippee Perfect prep machine

Tommee Tippee Perfect prep machine £120 - (shop here)

"The Tommee Tippee closer to nature perfect prep machine makes a fresh bottle at just the right serving temperature in less than 2 minutes."

Having a baby is an incredible and life changing moment there is no denying it, to think you have created life and the overwhelming love you feel for them the moment you see their face is undoubtedly breathtaking. But lets be completely honest it is also life changing as not everything in a daytime routine is as quick & simple, sleep isn't allowed anymore and taking a shower is classed as me time. Feeding is the most repetitive activity you will do and if you bottle feed your baby like i do making up a fresh bottle each time and waiting for it to cool can be a soul destroying 10 minutes at 3am whilst your hungry baby is screaming in your ear.

Perfect smooth skin - Cuppa Joe coffee body scrubs

Cuppa Joe St Clements coffee body scrub - £12.50* (Shop here)

Exfoliating is a massive part of my skin care regime and something i do very regularly to help keep my skin nice and smooth. For quite some time i have been using natural sugar based exfoliators as exfoliators with plastic beads don't break down and then go into the sea so aren't environmentally friendly. Cuppa Joe are extremely ethical as a company as not only are all their ingredients 100% natural and don't contain any nasty chemicals the ingredients used are from fair-trade farmers. This pleases me as i know when i'm using it not only is it benefiting my skin i'm also doing my part.

My Second Labour

All has been a little quite on my blog for the last three weeks and that would be due to me finally having my beautiful little girl. I thought it would be good to return with my labour story although i'm not much of a story teller, if your squeamish or not overly fond about labour maybe miss out on this one.

My due date was on the 23rd of May and rather surprisingly (cause what baby actually comes on their due day) in the early morning i started to get contractions, i let them run their course and got into a bath to relax however after a few hours they fizzled out. An hour or so later they returned to about one every ten minutes but i was getting horrific pain in my back so i called the ward and went in to be examined only for the contractions to stop again as soon as i got there. To help keep a record of my contractions so i knew exactly how far apart they where and how long they was lasting for i got a app on my phone (simply called contractions) and would greatly advise it. Whilst being at the hospital I was hooked up to a machine so they could monitor babies heartbeat for an hour and after an examination was told i was 2cm dilated so labour was happening just slowly so was sent home. I was extremely disappointed that i had a day of contractions and no baby at the end of it but went home and got some rest as advised waiting for it to happen.

Bottle-fed shaming

This is an extremely deep and opinionated topic and i don't right this post to cause any offence to either parties however it's one i wanted to discuss as I'm soon coming into that world again and i wanted to share how i felt the first time round compared to now. I have no issue with how a baby is fed by it being via breast or by formula, nor do i have an issue with it being in public or in the comfort of your own home. I suppose you could say I'm quite easy and laid back and believe it's entirely a mothers choice how they feed their baby.

However what i do find is the shaming mothers are faced with if they choose not to breast feed their babies and the fact it seems to come from medical professionals and other breast-feeding mums, not saying I'm taring you all with the same brush but this is my personal observance. When having my son i had no idea what to expect from breast feeding but wanted to give it a try, he had the colostrum and i attempted to breast feed on our first night in hospital however the pain was greater than i expected and he just wasn't latching on which was causing more pain and distress for both of us. At that stage the mid-wife suggested (in a not so supportive tone) about formula, tiered and concerned about him being hungry i said it might be for the best but asked if i could try breast feeding again on his next feed to which i was told simply no. This upset me greatly, i was young, tiered and on my own as it was the middle of the night, I felt pressured into making a decision and was made to feel ashamed by the midwife cause i chose the formula. At the time this really upset me and i felt like i had already made my first mistake at being a mother.

OOTD H&M tie dye maxi dress

H&M tie dye maxi dress - £15 ( Shop here )

Despite dropping any day now with the weather warming up i gave in and went shopping for a nice maxi dress. Trying on clothes at this stage in pregnancy wasn't exactly the most excitable or enjoyable thing I've done but nor was the sun being out and me not having anything nice to wear.

I instantly fell in love with the 90's tie dye vibe of this dress, perfect for festivals and bbq's i think. This isn't actually from H&M's maternity section, as it's jersey material i just went for a larger size so it fits nicely round bump and I'm hoping it will still fall nicely after baby too. I teamed this with my vintage wrangler denim jacket and navy vans for a chilled casual look but will also girly it up with some nice sandals and long floaty kimono.

Pregnancy update weeks 38 - 39

Not going to lie i am in complete shock that I'm righting this update as i was convinced i was going to be early. Despite already having a child this is also uncharted territory for me now as i had Aiden at 38 weeks, i know I'm only a few days over yet my mind is still running off with the idea of being late and what happens with being induced etc.

Maternity clothes: Clothes wise i am getting a little thin on outfits i can actually wear, especially seem as my Adidas trainers are the only shoes that will fit my swollen feet. I have however caved and bought a nice maxi dress from H&M as the weather is warming up and i pray to find some flip-flops that i can wear. You may have also seen my post earlier in the week ( read here ) on the stunning maxi nightdress from ASOS which i have been loving lounging around the house in.

May goals & dreams

Lately i have been feeling somewhat deflated and not entirely happy with certain areas of my life, not in a dramatic sense more that I'm sitting back and letting time and life pass by. To help shake this off and not be so much of a procrastinate kind of person i thought i would start a new monthly goals and dreams post to help push me in the right direction.

1. Take steps to become a morning person. For awhile now i have envied those who not just wake up super early but actually get loads of things done by time it's 10am and there's me only half ready for the day and just had my breakfast despite doing the school run. The waking up early shouldn't be to much of an issue considering I'm about to have my baby any day now but i hope to have myself up looking fresh, kids ready to rock and roll and a bit of house work done.

ASOS Maternity nursing nightdress

ASOS Maternity nursing maxi nightdress - £22  shop here

Comfort is always important but during pregnancy it is incredibly important, it may sound silly but clothes easily irritate and can make a pregnant lady pretty fed up and annoyed. Being 38 weeks i wasn't going to bother buying anymore clothes until baby was here but i saw this on ASOS and instantly fell in love. It's actually a night dress but to be quite honest it's so beautiful i would happily wear this as a dress if the sun decides to shine.

The discreet nursing top section is very easy and practical to use with no clips or fastenings involved so both you and baby have the comfort of just the soft jersey material. The beautiful floral pattern down the bottom also has a small slit up the side which makes it feel feminine and not frumpy. It's so relieving having nothing restricting around bump and i can comfortably lounge around the house in style.

Review Revlon colorstay combination/oily skin foundation

Revlon colorstay combination/oily skin foundation - £9.99

Foundation is pretty much the be all and end all of makeup, we stress about how it looks, feels, wears and matches. Naturally because of that i own several different types from different brands and am always on the hunt for something that little bit better.

The info: Simple sleek glass bottle packaging with a screw lid and no pump, not much else can be said. The colorstay comes for two skin types normal/dry and combination/oily I'm discussing the combination/oily as that's the only one I've used as that's my skin type. The formula is specially designed to help control shine with a build-able medium to full coverage, with a natural velvet-matte finish. With 13 true to skin shades it covers a wide range to perfectly match your skin tone.

Pregnancy update weeks 37 - 38

Maternity clothes: This has been practically the same as the last update however i am basically just living in sweats and pyjamas in between doing the school runs. Comfort is literally all i care about right now.

Sleep: It would seem i jinxed myself as just after my last post went up i haven't been sleeping quite so well. I've been getting up several times to go to the loo, turning over in bed is agony because of my SPD and i seem to get heartburn conveniently just as I'm about to go to sleep. Not only that on a few nights i have woken in the early hours wondering if I'm about to go into labour and having some pretty realistic false alarms.

Miss anything: Being able to get around a lot easier and it feel like every movement takes an absolute life time!

Review Smash box be legendary punked matte lipstick

Smash box Be legendary matte lipstick shade Punked - £17

For awhile i have swooned over alternative lipstick shades and a matte grey was top of my list, however i was finding i was being extremely picky over the shade and finish i was after so didn't own one. Then Smashbox released their Be legendary matte range *heavenly trumpet noise*.

The info: Extremely sleek and simple matte black packaging with a box style lipstick case, not exactly ground breaking however I'm so used to seeing round lipsticks i actually like this and find it still different. Stay true intense pigmented lipstick with feather-light and comfort wear despite being matte, with stay put ability.

Review Estee Lauder sumptuous waterproof mascara

Estee Lauder Sumptuous waterproof mascara - £21

Since i started wearing makeup mascara has been the one product i have never gone without and i dread to think how many i've gone through in my makeup wearing life. The search for a waterproof mascara that truly works is on every womans mind and ladies call the search off as i have discovered it.

The info: A lash multiplying and volumising mascara giving a false lash effect with minimal effort. It has a oversized brushcombe wand and sleek blue packaging. The formula of the mascara is fragrance free so very kind to the eye area, lasts for 10 hours and is smudge and flake free.

Pregnancy update weeks 32 - 37

Maternity clothes: I have been in the limbo of not wanting to buy any bigger clothes as i see it pointless for the few short weeks i have left yet really running out of things to wear, a very really pregnancy problem. So instead i settled on buying some Primark pyjamas to lounge around the house in as that's pretty much what i plan on doing until labour comes and a few weeks after baby.

Sleep: Surprisingly despite how far gone and how big i am, I'm still on average only getting up once a night for a pee and thanks to my pregnancy pillow am very comfortable throughout the night so sleep has been rather good. I am very pleased about this obviously however i know it's not going to continue once baby arrives so appreciating every night from now on.

Miss anything: Over the past two weeks with the nicer weather i have really missed being able to wear nicer clothes and do more pampering. When simple things like washing your hair and shaving your shines are a massive chore other beauty treatments such as tanning and nicely painted toe nails aren't really happening. And if I'm being completely honest i am now at the stage where i miss intimacy not going to go to much TMI but it has been awhile now and the thought that i still have to wait for some time after labour makes me a little sad ha.

Review Emma Hardy amazing face moringa cleansing balm

For me if I'm going to spend on luxury items skincare is at the top of my list where i do like to treat myself. Naturally when i was getting married i wanted my skin to be at it's best so i did splurge on several different skincare items, this being one of them. From that moment (which is now over a year) i have been using the moringa cleansing balm so i think it's about time i actually posted a review.

Pregnancy update weeks 28 - 31

Maternity clothes: I haven't needed to buy anything other than underwear as i wanted some comfort bras to sleep in so i picked some from Asda and they are so incredibly comfortable. This week i have decided that my maternity jeans are at their final stage as the bump band it getting a little too taught but i refuse to buy the next size up for the sake of a few weeks so i will now live in my maternity leggings and long tops.

Sleep: I haven't been having any problems sleeping, thank god as i know broken sleep will be coming my way shortly. I have however found i have to get up in the middle of the night to pee and i am using my pregnancy pillow to get more comfortable as the weight of bump is quite heavy.

Miss anything: I must admit last week i did start feeling a bit low and wanted my pre-pregnant body back with a nice spray tan and my skin to not have so many blemishes but this is completely natural and i soon snapped out of it.

Pregnancy update weeks 20 - 28

It has been quite sometime since my first pregnancy update and now that i have finished the second trimester i thought i would fill you guys in on the last eight weeks of my pregnancy. It seems completely crazy that i am now in the third and last trimester of my pregnancy and i think from this point i will do my updates more regularly as more will be going on etc. If you haven't already read my first baby update than you might like to as that will take you up to me being 20 weeks.

Second trimester - weeks 20 - 28

In my last update i had mentioned about having quite intense dreams, well after having them for a little while they have finally died off, i think it was down to hormones and having quite a bit going on at that time but they didn't get too serious. I have also introduced a better sleep routine and believe this has helped relax me so unlike my first pregnancy I'm not finding sleep an issue and hopefully it will stay that way. If you'd like to know some of the products I've been using you can read about them here, and are great whether your pregnant or not. I am also extremely lucky and grateful that I'm still not having to get up through the night to go for a wee, hooray!

Lush Mothers day & Easter 2016 Collection

Lush
On Monday i was very lucky to be invited to my local Lush's spring tea blogger event, where they showed off this years mother's day & Easter collections. As always they pulled out all the stops and the shop looked incredible, we was greeted with adorable mini treats to nibble on and drinks on ice. Tea party themes are always one of my favourite and an Alice in wonderland spin on it certainly made it beautiful.  Without further a do lets jump into this years products at there are many to go through.

Mothers Day

Rose bombshell - bath bomb  £3.95
As the name of it suggests this bomb is filled with rose including yellow rose petals in the middle so is a real treat. Unlike the rose jam scent i would say this has a more traditional rose smell so if your not a fan of sweet rose this will certainly be one for you.

Valentines - Budget and luxury red lips

Red lips are a big makeup trend and it seems we all like to rock a red lipstick for valentines day so i thought i would share my favourite red lip products, no matter what your budget is these will get your red lip game on point.

Budget - Rimmel Kate Moss shade 111 £5.49

Rimmel lipsticks have to be saluted for their quality and price and are one of my favourite drugstore lipsticks. The lasting power is great, ok so it does wear especially when eating and drinking so touch ups will be needed however that can be expected from a lot of lipsticks. The pigment and velvet matte texture is also brilliant and it glides on so is easy and comfortable to wear.

Mama mio the tummy rub oil

Mama mio - the tummy rub oil £27

Deep moisturising and nourishing your skin is an absolute must when pregnant in the battle against stretch marks. I tried a few different creams and oils in my first pregnancy and never come across one that i loved enough to go straight back to so i started hunting around in early pregnancy and came across the brand Mama mio. Although i hadn't tried anything from this brand before i was really interested in the fact they had a special line targeted for pregnant skincare from a facial cleanser, stretch mark prevention and leg gel.

Review // Sleep easy with Lush

Sleeping is one of the biggest thoughts to most of us, whether it's down to did we get enough, how good it was, feeling tired through out the day etc. Whether your pregnant, male or female sometimes relaxing sleep aids can be very welcome and who doesn't want to drift off easily into a nice deep well rested sleep. For over a year i have reached for certain bath bombs and products to help me unwind and relax for a good night sleep so i thought it would be quite nice to share my little collection from Lush.

Baby // Baby Wishlist

Mama mio gorgeous glow 3-step skincare £42 - I already have the tummy rub oil from this brand and really like it (review to come) so want to try their other pregnancy skin care range. As i mentioned in my pregnancy update post my skin has changed quite a lot and has gone from being slightly combination to full blown combination, oily nose, dry skin round my eyes and hormonal spots and redness. As this skincare line is specially designed for pregnancy it's certainly one i want to try in hope to improve it from it's currant state.

Babystyle Oyster 2 Humbug colour pack £90 - I already have the Oyster 2 pram as i found a bargain on my local gumtree and it has the grey colour pack. As much as i really like it in grey for a boy, i have fallen completely in love with the humbug colour pack for a girl baby. I love that you can change the colour of this pram so when we know the sex i can customise it accordingly.

Baby // First pregnancy update

I Have been MIA for quite sometime now and it's fair to say being pregnant has certainly been one of the main factors, that and a rather hectic few months. I wasn't too sure whether to post about my pregnancy and baby but seem as this pregnancy has been quite different i thought i would and it's also a pretty big part of my life right now. I'm now 20 weeks so well into my second trimester and think that's plenty long enough to give a update and talk about products I've come across in posts to come.
