Review Revlon colorstay combination/oily skin foundation
Revlon colorstay combination/oily skin foundation - £9.99
Foundation is pretty much the be all and end all of makeup, we stress about how it looks, feels, wears and matches. Naturally because of that i own several different types from different brands and am always on the hunt for something that little bit better.
The info: Simple sleek glass bottle packaging with a screw lid and no pump, not much else can be said. The colorstay comes for two skin types normal/dry and combination/oily I'm discussing the combination/oily as that's the only one I've used as that's my skin type. The formula is specially designed to help control shine with a build-able medium to full coverage, with a natural velvet-matte finish. With 13 true to skin shades it covers a wide range to perfectly match your skin tone.
My thoughts: Briefly touching upon the packaging it now comes with a pump which is far more convenient. Moving on to what we all want to know is the formula and i have to say it's very impressive. It's quite thick in consistency so at first i was a little concerned about it's blending ability but that's not an issue, i especially like to apply this with a damp beauty sponge and find it easy to work with. The coverage is certainly what it claims and find i don't have to apply it to heavily to get a flawless coverage and it is build-able so where i need the extra coverage on my rosacea i can with out it being noticeable or cake.
I can't say the claim of it lasting for 24 hours is true as 1. I've never worn a full face for that long, not too sure who will and 2. i don't care what anyone says makeup does not wear for that long no matter how miraculous it is. However it does wear very well for a typical day, i don't find or feel like it's sliding off my face and the only area it starts to break down on is around my nose where I'm most oily. I do set this all over with a powder as i do with all my foundations, but find that around my nose is literally the only place i will need to touch up with a little powder to take away the shine. The shades are very good, from a very pale point of view and find the palest shade is a really good suit and i got the next two up for when i tan.
To put this quite bluntly as to how much this is up there with my favourite foundations i even used this when i done one of my best friends wedding makeup. For a drug store foundation and price it is fantastic, overall it looks and wears brilliantly and it photographs really nicely too.
